Rush is Wrong, and was never really that right...

It's interesting that Rush Limbaugh has sort of emerged as the de-facto head of the Republican Party. I would have thought that after losing the presidency in 2008, 51 seats in the house and 14 seats in the senate in 2006 and 2008 and President Bush wining re-election by the narrowest margin in American history in 2004 that the Republicans would have stepped back and rethought what this party is all about a little more. But, alas, no. Rush Limbaugh, whether anointed head by the party or just declared that by gleeful Democrats, has taken over and you can bet that clips of the standing ovations he received from the GOP faithful during the CPAC conference are going to be played over and over again ad nauseam. I agree that the problem is, and continues to be, big government. The problem with the Republicans is that for 25 years they've shouted about big government but done absolutely nothing about it. Do they think that nobody notices this? It's one thing for the Democrats to push through more government programs because that is their party platform and something they genuinely believe in regardless of its efficacy. It's quite another for the party of smaller government and state's rights to balloon the size of our government to unheard of proportions every time they're in power. That's why they've become irrelevant; the did it do themselves.
